Green Guard® is a fungal inoculant consisting of live spores of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum.
The fungal isolate in Green Guard®, FI-985, is specific for the biological control of locusts and wingless grasshoppers.
Green Guard® is organic and has been approved for use in organically certified properties. There are two formulations available for use: a suspension concentrate (SC) for ground spraying and ultra low volume (ULV) for spray application by aircraft.
Green Guard® has been given limited approval by the Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) for use by the Australian Plague Locust Commission (APLC) and it is envisaged that it will become nationally registered and commercially available for use by APLC and landholders on a wider basis by Autumn 2005.
The product is manufactured and marketed exclusively by Becker Underwood Pty Ltd under licence from Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
